Find Ancestors

Hi,

I'm trying to location more information on Thomas Elliott born around 1770 in Sussex, England. Died 23/11/1843.

He was married to Mary Mugridge on 31/10/1799. She died 24/11/1845.

I've got a lot of information on their children, but i've come to a dead end in the tree as i'm struggling to find any information on his parents (or any siblings). Thomas lived around the Cranley (now spelt Cranleigh) area of Sussex.

I know it's a bit of a long shot, but if anyone has any information, it would be most welcome.

Take a look at the igi batch numbers for Rudgwick sussex,this is very close to Cranleigh (which is in Surrey) There are a lot of Elliotts,in particular Thomas chr.27/12/1760 father Thomas. Also Thomas chr 26/11/1790 F Thomas,m Ann. Lots of other Elliotts.

Thomas Elliott and Mary Mugridge's first Child was Mary Elliott born on 1/6/1802, so the Thomas from 1790 would be too young. The 1760 Thomas is a possibility though. Their other children were

Elizabeth Elliott (b. 1803),
Thomas Elliott (b. 1805),
John Elliott (b. 1807),
Esther Elliott (b. 1809),
Edward Elliott (b. 1811),
William Elliott (b. 1814),
Jane Elmes Elliott (b. 1815),
Eli Elliott (b. 1819).

The only other information i have for Thomas is that he was originally a farmer (presumably in or around Cranleigh), but in his later years was parish clerk for St Nicholas, Cranley (Cranleigh). Thomas and Mary both have memorial stones in the churchyard there.

Don't know if any of that helps with locating Thomas's parents, but it's all i've got to work with at the moment.
