Trying to find information on Jacob Elliott born 1860/61 Trimdon Durham.I would appreciate any info on his children as I am trying to confirm that he is my Great Grandfather.It has been suggested he may have had 12 children but possibly not all of them survived.Any help would be welcome.

Thank you for your help.I think this is the right family but I cannot verify this because my grandmother who was Sarah Jane Elliott born 1895ish does not appear in their household.She should have been in the 1901 census as she would have been 6 years old,in the 1911 census she could have left home because she went to work for gentry in North Stainley nr Ripon Yorkshire. The family was called Groatiens (not sure of the spelling) Lack of this information prevents me from building my family tree. Best regards

Surely Sarah Jane's birth certificate should reveal who her parents were. Her marriage certificate should also name her father.

N.B. There does not appear to be the birth registration of a Sarah Jane Elliot in the Trimdon area in 1894~1896. The only Sarah Jane Elliott births registered were in Auckland (1896) and South Shields (1895) registration districts. As all of Jacob Elliott's children appear to have been born and their births registered in the Stockton/Sedgefield registration district it is possible that your Sarah Jane was not part of that Jacob Elliott's brood.

There is however this birth registered in the Stockton district:
