Trying to find Elliott

I am trying to find where my great grandfather was born and where he went after the 1851 census. My grandmother was Emma Eliza Elliott born 1849 in Stratford East died 1927 Horley her parents were Charles Elliott and Jane Lancaster. Charles was described as an engineer born in Manchester father William from the 1851 census. I have been unable to find the family after that until Emma Eliza married my grandfather Frederick Parrett in 1871 in Crayford. I know that Charles worked for the Great Eastern railway and William Elliott Emma's brother also worked for the railway. There were probably other children. Any information gratefully received.
