Charles Arthur Elliott (c1867) married Sarah (James?). She was known as Sadie, and was a former nanny to Charles' children to his first wife Bessie Robson. Bessie died young. I've been told that a few people have a Sarah James in their tree, and the birthplace, Thornaby, matches where I know Charles lived as an adult. However, nobody seems to have her as marrying Charles, and some have a different husband altogether. My Sarah was my great grandmother, and her own children with Charles were called Harold, Mabel, Grace and Mary. Charles originated in Gateshead, so may have met Sarah there? When they moved to Thornaby, Charles became owner of a few properties, but was a headmaster by profession. Can anyone help me with any info on any of these people please?

Wow Sylvia you have been working hard on my behalf! Thank you so much! I've been able to confirm most of what you have given me and incorporated it into my tree. However, I'm unsure about Charles' second marriage. I have his middle name as Arthur, not James. Also, I have another possible Sarah, from Gateshead, which would tie in with where charles was living, but her middle name is Elizabeth. I'm stuck again. Perhaps you'd take another look for me? You're a star!

You may have mis-read the information on the possible Charles second marriage registration. James is not his middle name, it is the name of his spouse. If I split it up and insert married, it may be clearer for you:-

Oops yes Sylvia that was me misreading your message there.
It could well be their marriage record, but the only other info I have to go on is a record of another Sarah James marrying a charles elliott in 1909, and I cant corroborate either record at the moment. Both are possible, as Mabel and Harold's birth dates may well be wrong, or they could I suppose have been born pre-wedding. Plus I dont know Sarah's parents names or her birthplace for sure, so it's a bit of a chicken/egg situation. I will keep trying.
