james gaul (irish) b.1857 married Catherine ? in 1883, swansea; ten children;
Catherine, Patrick Joseph, Annie, Michael,James,francis, john (my great grand dad), mary,joseph and thomas robert.
All born in Swansea.

Annie married Brinley.R.Pennock in 1914
Thomas Robert married ?Jemkins in 1911

one of the gaps i had was margarets maiden name, which has been solved...so thanks again!

just wondering on their absence from all but the 1901 and 1891 census? any ideas?

also i have james parents as being...

robert gaul b.ireland d.1826;d.swansea 1876 married
catherine ? b.1827 ? d.1886 swansea.

going back a step more i have roberts parents as

james gaul married jane miller in 1824 county cork, ireland.

and a 'mystery' bridget gaul who was married 1864...possibly sisiter to robert?

i think i have exhausted the gauls beyond the date you say.
there are just odd gaps in their history, lack of census returns etc.

one suggestion my dad has given is that they were an itinerant people, only really setling down when the first children were born.

do you know of any good geneaology sites concentrating on ireland?
