The 1911 census says that Theodore and Agnes have been married 22 years, which would mean 1888/9. or they are telling lies to make James appear legitimate?

I can't see Theo on the 1891 census but I wonder if he married Agnes in Scotland? From the 1901 census James was born in Johnstone, Scotland. His birth certificate from Scotlandspeople will give the date and place of his parents marriage - if they were married. If they were unmarried and Theodore was unavailable to sign the register entry, his birth would probably be registered in Agnes's surname.


Right, just had a look for that Agnes in 1891 and here she is unmarried! And look whose with her!! So perhaps James's father wasn't Theodore??
