Find Ancestors

My grandmothers name was Audrey Constance Kissner. I am trying to find details of her parents. I think her mother was born here of German origin and her family came here. They had a sweet shop in Tottenham. I would appreciate any advise on tracing people that have come from abroad. Thanks Jackie (Mamoun)

My great grandmother was a Kissner, born in Waechtesbach, District of Kassel and lived in Dillingen, Hesse before coming to the UK in the late 1800s. I cannot find your grandmother's name on my family records. As your post is from 2007, you might have already tried the German Church records of "Archion" or "Matricula" also you might find it useful to join the Anglo German Family History Society (AGFHS).
