Can anyone help me, this is the family on the Census of 1881.

Joseph Morgan Head Married 29 Collier b.
Mary Morgan wife 23 born Cwmbran
James son 6 scholar, b Cwmbran
Eliza Daughter 4 scholar b. Cwmbran
Emily Daughter 3 scholar, b Cwmbran
John Son 1 b. Cwmbran

The family were living at 62, Clifton Street, Roath, Cardiff.

How do I go about tracing Joseph Morgan on the 1871 census, he would be about 19. I have put his name and birth date( c.1851) plus where he was born (Cwmbran)and it shows nothing in the census of 1871. He may not have been married then, but no one is listed that I can tally up any details with. I have been looking on Findmy past website. He was on the 1881 census as married.

Try to find the marriage first - Do you have any details on his wife's maiden name?

Dea,

You are a star, I think that yes this is the family, how do you get this information so quickly, although I have been researching my tree for 2 yrs on and off, I still find it difficult, perhaps its old age, I am a silver surfer.....
Thank you so much.
cheers, Pauline in Spain

Dea,

Did you send me a reply which has been deleted by the administrator if so why do they do that.

Dea

Dea Report 30 Jun 2008 15:50

Yo soy 'silver surfer' tambien !!

Anyway - It wasn''t me who deleted I don't know what that was about.

I will have a look for the marriage but there are quite a few to choose from - A birth cert for one of the children would give you both parent's fathers and you can go with more certainty from there.

Do you have the references or do you need me to have a look?

Dea, Please could you look for me please.

It is very difficult, my Mother was born Edna Morgan at 12 Tin Street Cardiff in 1920 also a sister Winifred born 1923 but their Father William Morgan was never married to her Mother Mabel Hooper she was already married. Talk about a scandal ....(Mabel married again in 1926) I have traced the family of Morgans from this address search on the census of 1901, what I am trying to do is establish the family.

My mother did not remember her father William, mom was born in 1920. I do not know what happened to William on her birth cert is states that he was a Blacksmiths striker (ex army). He would have been my grandfather so it would be fantastic to find out what happened to him, did he die, or marry, who knows I have tried to find him on death certs but there are so many William Morgans. I hope I have not confused you.

Saludo Pauline.

So, I have got a little lost here - before I start in the wrong direction - where does the Joseph, Mary Morgan + family that you started off with fit in with the Edna, Winifred, William Morgan + Mabel Hooper that you have just mentioned?

William was a later son born to Joseph & Mary. On the 1901 census the family were living at 12, Tin St.
Joseph 50
Mary, 43
Edith, 18
James, 16
Mabel, 12
Florence, 9
William, 7
Albert. 5

Eliza was married. It is definately the same family.

Lo siento por la confusiĆ³n.
