Hi again.I have just started to follow my Grandma Alice Knott roots (Maiden name Nicholls) Born 19 dec 1912 in lancashire and Died 27 july 1971 in lancashire.
Can anyone help in finding Ellen Nicholls her mother.I no she was born around 1876 and Died on 27 jan 1947.
I no its not much to go on but any help would be greatfull.

Where in Lancashire was Alice born?

I can't see a birth for Alice matching your info...............do you have the cert?

These below are all correct with what i have.
Nicholls Alice (Kay) Barton I. 8c 1179 is the correct one.

But what i realy want to find is Alice's Mum and DaD on the Census
I have her mothers name ELLEN NICHOLLS born around 1876.I am told she is from liverpool.??????

The only marriage that I can find between a NICHOLLS and a KAY that comes any way near is this one:

BUT its not the right time or place???

If Alice's mother was married, you should be trying to trace her under her maiden name.........

Buy Alice's birth cert......to get some accurate info about both parents.

It may be that the mother had been married before............but, in any case, she wasn't called Nicholls when she was born.

You need to do some re-thinking.........I would strongly advise that you get her marriage cert, which seems to be the only certainty in this.

It will tell you her age.....plus her father's name and occupation.
