I am trying to find out anyhing possible about my grandfather Trevor Raymond Nicholls born 1900/1904, I am pretty sure he originated from Newport, Wales before moving to Corby/Kettering - he was married to Ella and had two daughters, his parents lived with him too in Kettering, they were both members of the Salvation Army. |

Where did you learn his second name? |

Hi Flick, I was pretty sure my Mum told me his middle name was Raymond, but sadly she passed away 16 years ago so I can't check up on that. I do know he was definitely Trevor R Nicholls though and that he died approx 1971 in Kettering Northants. I do also know that there was a link to Stinchcombe as I can vaguely remember a 'Granny' by that name who would have been a Great or even Great Great Grandparent. I have a feeling that my Grandfathers birthday was in October but I could be wrong. Thank you so very much for your help, this possible link is amazing. |

Hi Barbara (Yorkshire) Thanks for your reply, it was much appreciated but sorry, not the right family, I have a feeling my great-grandfather may have been called William. |

You need to buy Trevor's marriage cert - it will tell you how old he said he was plus his correct names, and the details he gave about his father. |

There is only one birth record on Ancestry for Nicholls/Plumb in Northants - in 1937 |

If you think Trevor's father was called William, and the surname Stinchcombe is familiar - this is on freebmd, where you could have found it yourself |

I'm having no luck with finding Rosina and William in 1911 - this may be her father and some younger children |

thanks everyone for all your help and advice, I now know about freebmd and have managed to order a copy of Trevor Raymond Nicholls birth certificate. The details of his death were in fact mis transcribed. As soon as I receive his birth certificate I will then have more info on his parents. I think I can probably manage to fnd out more then. Again, thanks again for all your help, I am very much a novice. |
