I am at a standstill finding information on finding who he married (her first names were Mary Ann), as there are a lot of Smith marriages, or who his parents were?
I have found him in the census and know that he had 8 daughters, Mary 1823, Sarah Ann 1828, Ann 1831, Nancy 1834, Maria 1838, Susanna 1841, Jane Emma 1846 and Elizabeth (my link) 1849. The girls were baptised in Armley.
If anyone has the girls in their tree I would like to be able to 'marry them off' as I haven't been able to find them after they left their parents.

Regards Kathryn

If you purchase one of the later daughter's birth certs it will give you her mother's maiden name as below

Looking at the birth dates and places of the children and the IGI - I wonder whether this was the couple

Thanks

I have just looked on the yorkshire bmd and printed out a possible for Elizabeth's birth. Got her marriage cert out and looked again at her age and think she could have possibly been born in 1850 and not 1849 as she was 26 when she married in february 1876.

Elizabeths age is given as 2 and 12 on the relevant census, if she was born in 1850 then I would have thought it would say 1 or even xxmonths.

ps. My wife was 21 when we married and apparently she still is!!

The only info I have is her marriage cert, she married on 29 February 1876, giving her age as 26.

Your wife has the right idea, it's how old you feel and not how old you are that matters.
