Linda put out a thread about a member of her family, with the name on the census as Boreging.

Many have probably looked at it, it's crazy, what other name could it be????

Boreging Smith, pretty sure it was 1891 St Saviour Southwark.

Although the name doesn't suggest it, this is a female we are looking for.

Just for our own satisfaction lets try and give this poor girl a name!!

I did suggest a DorothyG Smith I found in the right quarter in the right year. Say it out loud and its not a million miles away.
Dorothy G (don't know what the G stands for)

Hi Teresa,

A lot nicer than Boreging, but looking at the original it definately looks like it starts with B,

Been having sleepless nights over this one. Poor kid!!!! LOL

I agree the name definitley looks to begin with a B, but I think to enumerator wrote down what he heard so it doesn't mean the name will actually being with a B

I do love a challenge with this one is very tricky. Its never been used as a name anywhere else that i can see.

You could be right Teresa, it's just such a strange name to put down.

would help to find them on the 1901 census, there's another problem, parents but no children.

is there a death for Dorothy G???
