There's a possibility that Ann Smith is in the workhouse in Westbury in 1851

1881 they Wells family are still in Sunderland

Anne gives her date of birth as 1838 in all census records apart from 1891.
In 1841 census there are two Ann Smiths in Westbury, Wiltshire one born 1839 and the other 1837.
The first seems more likely but you will only be sure when you have the marriage cert. so you can check the name of her father and his profession.
