Seeking information about Smith family from North Shields in 1870s. William Henry Smith married Mary Jane Johnson. There were 5 children, Mary Ann b.c.1860 (may have kept name Johnson), Eleanor b.c.1865, Elizabeth b.c. 1869, Catherine Ellison b. 1872 and Thomas b.c.1874.
Any help gratefully received.

What info do you already have and what are you looking for?

Have you bought William and Marys marriage cert? That will give both fathers names and occupations, the couples residence and more useful clues.

GRO refs can be looked up free on freebmd.org and then using that ref you buy the cert for £7 from GRO online.

Don't have a date of marriage as yet or location. Only dates of children. Will keep looking, thanks for the help.

there are a lot of births for the other children on free bdm,but too many to be sure to have the right ones,a middle name might help

Regina, you can look up births, marriage and death refs yourself free on freebmd.org. Then use the reference to buy the cert for £7 from GRO online. Its the only way to get solid information.
