I am trying to find information on my great grandfather Arthur Smith, born 1888, in Birmingham. He married my Great Grandmother Lilian Annie Cobley Allen in 1915 in Birmingham. Arthur was the son of Edwin Smith a shoemaker. I can't find much information on Arthur's mother or if Edwin had any more children. Any help would be appreciated. |

I have the marriage certificate and the witnesses were both from Lilian's side of the family so I believe that Edwin was dead, but it does not say deceased on the certificate. They were married at a Unitarian Church on Hurst Street, Birmingham which has since been demolished. It was Arthur and Lilian's second marriage's. There is a possibility that Arthur was living with the Grandmother back in 1881 but can't be sure. |
