I am trying to find the army records for my Grandfather and his brothers.
I think they enlisted in the Leicestershire Regiment, but not 100 % sure.
My grandfather was a William Henry and his brothers were Arthur and John ( known as Jack)
I am finding this hard as no one to help or ask, and Smith being an impossible name to research.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

All World War one.

My Grandfather William Henry was born in 1884, Arthur was born in 1887 and John ( Jack) in 1883.
Any clues on how to find their records would be fantastic. I have been searching with no success.

William Henry married Florence Cockayne

I have no info on the other tow, although suspect they would be married.

Stories in the family have said Arthur was made a Regimental Sargeant.

However, as no one now to ask, this may be a red herring!

If you don't have a subscription for the Ancestry site you may find a free 14 day trial then you could search through the WW1 records. Some WW1 records were burnt in WW2 bombings

Are you in touch with a David who has these family names in his tree? If not go to "search trees" above search one of the names i.e Polly Smith and you can send him a message
