Same couple in 1851:-

Estimated birth year: abt 1804
Relation: Head
Spouse's name: Elizabeth
Gender: Male
Where born: Ecclesall, Yorkshire, England

Civil parish: Ecclesall Bierlow
Ecclesiastical parish: Ecclesall
County/Island: Yorkshire
Country: England

Street Address:

Occupation: Publican and Farmer of (looks like) 18 Acres.

Registration district: Ecclesall Bierlow
Sub-registration district: Ecclesall Bierlow
ED, institution, or vessel: 1d
Neighbors: View others on page

Household Members:
Name Age
William Smith 47
Elizabeth Smith 47 - born: Stouton, Kent

George Harrison 12

.............so if your William was unmarried and living with his mother in 1851, then this can't be your William.

The "wife" was probably born in Hunton ?? There is no Stonton in Kent that I know of.

Hi Jill.Apology! Must be the heat! William
was the son of James and Mary and lived next door to his brother Samuel. William was a farmer and publican of Waggon and Horses which his parents ran before him. I got my census mixed up and he was married between 1841 and 1851. I will try Free Bmd again. Thank you for taking the time to help.
