Just before I go....

I’m looking for the dead one
No I can’t tell you his name
He was born in Albuquerque
Which I think is south of Spain?
It might have been in ‘84
“Which century?” you ask
Well I really haven’t got a clue
So don’t take me to task.

I do know that he had a wife
I think her name was Jane
They may have had some children
In a cottage down a lane.
No, I don’t know the location
I heard this from a cousin
Of an aunt who’s no relation
Who had children by the dozen.
SHE lived in Hemel Hempstead
I don’t think that will matter
But perhaps it helps to know
that she was married to a hatter?

A brainwave! I’ve remembered
the missing fellow’s names !
It was Smith, his first name’s William
Or… maybe John or James…
I found him on a census
Going by the name of Sam.
He was with a wife called Lucy
But I’m sure he is my man
Perhaps he used a nickname
To disguise that he was wed
To the afore mentioned Jane?
Are you following what I’ve said?

I need to know his habits
And where he ended life
As I’m related (just by marriage)
to his grandson’s fourteenth wife
I know that seems excessive
But I know that it’s the truth.
I’ve got 14 old certificates
That really are the proof.
It does seem strange I do admit
That each one’s slightly ‘out’
As to dad and occupations
Not sure what that is about!

Can you help me find my missing Smith?
I’m told this site’s the best
For getting information
so much cheaper than the rest.
I really do not want to pay
A penny more than one.
Oh by the way I hope you’ll
Send me copies when you’ve done?
Printed out on vellum,
I think that would be nice
And I’d like one for my uncle
So you’d better do that twice.

Any other info I can give?
But please don’t ask me now
I’m going on a cruise
And so won’t answer anyhow.

It’s a breeze this genealogy!
I thought it might be tricky
Enjoy yourself, and get to work
Regards,
Your new mate Mickey.

You lucky **, I just happened to be skiving and saw this!

Shall read and ponder later at my leisure. ;)

And I know how to harass you by email, and you can still check "my threads" and read stuff even if you don't pay, so you don't get off that easily!
