My G Grandfather was born 1877 in Walsall Robert Smith, married 1906 and died 1923, on marriage cert father listed as James a collier deceased, on birth Cert mother listed as Ann Robinson.
Between birth and 1911 can not find on any census at all any of them or record of fathers death, not even sure where he was a 'collier'! Help this mystery has been driving me mad for 5 years

yep thats the birth so why do they not appear on any census?

Lynski

Lynski Report 7 Feb 2011 20:55

I am thinking you might have to get the marriage certificate for James and Ann to see what ages they state and their father's names.

This would at least narrow down the search because I don't know what age I am looking for and there are a lot of Smiths. Do you know if Robert had any siblings?

Thanks Lynne yes that might be a good idea, None of the family know anything about Robert or his family as he died before all living relis were born, They did know Hannah but did not ask!!!

I will keep searching through the Smiths and if you get the marriage certificate please come back to this thread and add the details. I will see it in my thread participation and we can continue the search.............
