Trying to find out more about my grandma's side of the family - her father was David Smith born 4 March 1894. her mother Edith Olive ? was his second wife and they both had children from previous marriages. I am led to believe that Edith came from the Durham area - she was born 29/06/1898 her other married name was Churchill - don't know the maiden name. She died 6 May 1968 and is buried at North Wingfield. I am told that David Smith lived in a place called Padley Wood (Derbyshire I think)- he was a farmworker and had 5 Children by his previous wife - these were Alice Ethel (12/06/1894), Jack, George and Henry (twins born 29 April) and Charles. David Smith's father was William born 20/12/1822. Evidently they were also known as the Naivenby Blacksmiths (info from the whites directory in the Lincoln Archives) Can you help? |
