CHARLES WILLIAM SMITH Born 30 December 1876, Crop Lane, Whippingham, IOW 1st wife: Alice Wareham. One daughter Margery who married Arthur Bull 2nd wife: HILDA MAY GRIFFIN LEAL Married Hilda 5 November 1911 St John's Church, Carisbrooke IOW. CHARLES AND HILDA had 9 children. Leslie Leonard Robey Leal Ena May Smith (aka Molly) Kenneth Arthur Smith Hilda May Smith (aka Peggy) Bob Charles Smith (not Robert - christened Bob) Phyllis Dora Smith Ronald Ernest Smith Raymond John Edward Smith Eileen Christine Florence Smith (Raymond and Eileen were twins) CHARLES SMITH was born in Whippingham, near Osborn House, Newport Isle of wight. He had a sister, Annie. BOTH CHARLES AND ANNIE were born before his mothers marriage. His mothers name was JANE SMITH who later married WILLIAM MATTHEWS and they then had 6 children. Is there anyone out there who is researching the smith's from the Isle of Wight I would be grateful if you could get in touch. Thanks you might be able to solve the mystary of my grandfathers birth.
