Trying to find Smith

Why, oh why did I marry a Smith! We're looking for information/relatives of a Smith family who originated from Norfolk - possibly the Diss area. Lancelot Smith was born c1890 in Norfolk and married an Alice Cox in Chalfont St Giles, Bucks. They had 6 children Donald Trevelyn Joseph, Joan, Marjorie, Basil, Michael and Reggie. My husband tells me that his grandmother Alice's mother Mrs Cox was living in a cottage on Gold Hill Common, Chalfont St Peter, Bucks at the time of her death in the early 1920's. We assume that Lancelot migrated from Norfolk to Bucks looking for work and left his parents and possibly siblings in Norfolk. Lancelot (known as Larney) worked for many years as groundsman and gamekeeper at Chalfont Park. He died aged c90 in Chalfont St Peter and Alice died aged c82 also in Chalfont St Peter. |
