Good morning Claire,

I am so sorry to have put you to so much trouble, I will have to buy the birth cert for this child just to stop it from bugging me.
I have been trawling the censuses and baptisms and there are only three Cameron families in the vicinity, but mine is the only one in Newbottle, so he must be one of mine.

LindainHerriotCountry Report 29 Jun 2008 19:23

Hello Claire,
I have been trawling through the Bishops transcripts for Houghton le Spring trying to match the burial which you so kindly found for me, to my family,

From DRO
Burials, Houghton-le-Spring District
Record Number: 372090.2
Location: Houghton-le-Spring
Church: St. Michael & All Angels
Religion: Anglican
6 Nov 1838 David Cameron, of Newbottle, age: Infant

I found a matching birth record
David Cameron
Year of Registration: 1838
Quarter of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec
District: Houghton Le Spring
County: Durham
Volume: 24
Page: 130

I can't see a baptism in 1838 in the Houghton records, yet he must have been baptised in order to be buried. There is no baptism on DRO.
I would be grateful if you could check your records just in case i have missed it.

II he is the son of James Cameron and Elizabeth Hay as I suspect, he should have been born in the parish. In 1841 the couple were living in Newbottle in the same yard as her parents, she even has her three year old brother with her.
James came from Scotland, so it is not very likely that Elizabeth would have ventured elsewhere to give birth

Hi Claire

Thank you for your kind offer. I am looking in for information on my gg grandmother:

Elizabeth Bainbridge, born 1852 in Cotherstone [I understand it comes under Middleton-in-Teesdale]

Her parents were Thomas Bainbridge, c1830 Eldon and her mother was either Ann Gray, Ann Gowland or Hannah Dent ! [ all 3 women married a Thomas Bainbridge around 1851 - I just dont know which is mine ! Elizabeth's mother has been shown as Ann/ Nanny and Hannah !]

Could you look up these for me please

Baptisms, Marriages & Deaths for BAINBRIDGE in Middleton / Eldon / Sherburn / Cotherstone

If you find the maiden name of the mother of Elizabeth could you check on her family name please.

Many thanks

Angie
