Kathleen

Can't find anything in the Medal Rolls to do with Egypt, have found a service record but this guy lived in Walthamstow (which I know is just down the road from Tottenham) but his Mother was called Keziah, and I'm sure you have asked about A Wignall on another board and his mother wasn't Keziah.

Peter

Peter Report 13 Jul 2008 15:16

Hi Lesley,

Could you please search for my gg uncle James Gordon. He was born in Middlesbrough in 1897 to Patrick and Elizabeth Ann (Lily) Gordon.

James Gordon was private 21364 with the Yorkshire Regiment, and he was killed on 28th October 1917. He was buried in the Artillery Wood Cemetery in Belgium.

Also,

John Albert Pennock (1888-1916), son of John and Sarah Pennock, of Middlesbrough, Yorkshire. He wsa Private 34739 in the Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry, and he was killed on 10th September 1916.

Walter Williams, the son of William Thomas and Emma/Emily Williams. He was born in 1890 in Middlesbrough, and was Private 13832 in the Durham Light Infantry. He was killed on the 25th September 1916.

William Henry Woods (1887-1914) was the son of John and Theresa Woods, and was born in Middlesbrough. William Henry Woods was Lance Corporal 10604 in the Seaforth Highlanders and he was killed on 7th November 1914.

Finally, my g grandfather James Lever (1899-1952), was born in Runcorn, Cheshire, and according to family legend joined, up to the army underage in the First World War. He left England, and his mother didn't approve. She sent a decleration stating her son James was not old enough to be in the army, and he was sent to Middlesbrough to work in the industries there, but this was after he had been to the trenches and suffered a gas attack, which left him without a sense of smell for the rest of his life. I understand this last request is very vauge but if you can find anything it would be appreciated.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, on these men thank you!

Kind regards

Peter
