I have her death cert 8/1/1899 Lambeth Workhouse Infirmary 55 years Widow of Robert Hillier printers machinist of 24 Marshall St Georges Road Southwark the informant was Caroline Nunn Sister??????
I somehow knew this would bring more mystery!
Why would it say Widow of Robert when Robert was still alive and kicking?
At least it answers one question Robert never married Hannah Jarrett
also according to the death cert Robert and Elvire's sister Caroline were living at the same address?????????????

On account of this, I thought perhaps Elvire might be in the Lambeth area in earlier censuses,

This is a long shot, I have been tracking this couple.

Can't find a marriage or death entry for them, and can't find them in 1891/1901 censuses

Perhaps Robert Hillier & Elvire never officially remarried either of their partners

Robert Hillier married Elvire D'Argent 4/3/1861
Elvire's father was Predant Alfonse D'Argent both were from France(don't know where!)
Some time between 1861-1871 Elvire seems to disappear completely. I cannot find any death records for Elvire Hillier but on the 1871 census Robert is living with his new 'wife' Hannah Amelia Jarrett and two sons Robert and Joseph.
I can't find a marriage record for Robert and Hannah either! on their son's birth certs hannah's surname is Hillier late Greenough formerly Jarrett.(I have found her previous marriage).
Any thought's/help would be great!
