Thanks for the info on the Fletcher and Armitage families. Didn't have a clue about George being a widower. The family will be surprised. Unfortunetly cannot tell my Uncle George about his Grandfather as he has only just been given 48 or so hours to live (he is 97) I wish I had started all this years ago so I could have told him, my Mum who lived to be 93 and my other Uncle (who is still alive and living in Hull aged 94) Maybe my Mum knew but I know my Uncles wouldn't have done.
Never mind.
Thankyou once again
Cheers
Andrea from OZ

Margaret,

I cannot find an entry on FreeBMD which is only indexed until about 1930.

After that it means trawling through each year quarter by quarter

hi Sheila ,thanks for the offer, I am after a couple of marriage dates if you can spot them..
George F Pope to wife Joan ,they were both brn c1929 so I'm guessing married c1949,he was brn Islington London and she was brn hexton herts, but they lived in Meppershaw herts so Im assuming they would have married around there..
Also
Philip Reynolds to Patricia Jones in mid November 1957 ,they were both brn in Hammersmith London in 1939 but I know little else but as they are only 18 I am hoping they married locally to there.
I know that's not much to go on but keeping fingers crossed , thanks again ....Pam

Shemp,

You did not give me your grandfather's name.

Could this be their marriage?

Edith A Caine 1925 Oct-Nov-Dec Callaghan Rotherham Derbyshire, South Yorkshire, Yorkshire - West Riding

John Callaghan 1925 Oct-Nov-Dec Caine Rotherham

Vol.9c Page 1605

This may be her birth entry

Edith Annie Caine
Year of Registration: 1902
Quarter of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar
District: Barnsley
County: Yorkshire - West Riding
Volume: 9c
Page: 287

Either certificate will give Edith's father's name
