Henry Martin bricklayer aged 34 born Ireland, Rebecca, wife aged 31 born liverpool. Elizabeth daug, aged 12 born liverpool. Mary Martin daug aged 2 born Great Crosby. RG9 2725. maybe so julie...prob why im not a big fan of familysearch site..ok it did back up info i had from Marys marriage cert , though unconfirmed

and prob too many Mary Martin's born too Henry Martin's and Rebecca McEwan too search through if disreguarding the St Helens or Lancashire region...lol

yes julie...Mary / Rebecca and her family a real mystery...lol but one item of correct info is all thats needed to solve the mystery...hahaha..ooh role on that info..please...pmsl

John57

John57 Report 3 Feb 2009 23:40

hi again

searched Scotlands People for the family on the census you posted Julie

Mary Ann .....cant find other than same census...and too many Mary's died to pay too see all images lol..though there was two Mary Ann's , but ages at death were way out

Letilia....searched for marriage , death... found nothing

Rennie Boomer... found his death 1866..and had married an Ann Sweeney had 3 kids..after death Ann re-married someone else ,found her and new family on 1871 census

Henry.... married Rebcca 1852..Rebecca jnr born Hatfield St..so either they still stayed with Henry's mother or had flat in same tenement..still nothing for 1861 census in Scotland for them... but sometime after Rebecca jnr was born in nov 1855..and Mary being born in 57/58 they had moved to Burnley area..nothing to link Mary with this family thats concrete..other than name Mary which no one has found info on yet..i.e. census showing a Mary with household either 1861 (aged 3/4) or 1871 (13/14 ish)

found nothing to say or show Mary living with relitives in Glasgow prior to her marriage..she wasnt in service as she worked as a Quincy Porterloom Weaver and address at time of wedding was 111 Piccadily St

and ive not found any of the above Martins there or in Anderston area of Glasgow about that time

so my dilema remains..who is Mary Martins family...lol

info on Burnley Martins shows mothers maiden Name Carnacan/Carnaghan and both Henry and Rebecca from County Down (info from Rebecca jnr birthline)

info i have on marriage and death certificates for my grt gran Mary Martin shows Mothers maiden name McEwan

like to thank everyone for adding any info they found.

Hi John. I too went to familysearch yesterday , put in Carnican and found lots of Carnochans! They were all called Agnes if I remember rightly, no Rebecca there - so if Ange found her marriage there earlier in the day perhaps we hit a recycling of info period (as Sylvia pointed out earlier)-catch it while you can! So we are looking at a name change or the wrong Rebecca? Your Rebecca is such a mystery......................... I'll keep on looking for Henry & Mary in 1871 and possibly follow the Martin boys for any clues there. Looks like the Walmsley girls had moved in with their aunt Rebecca by 1901

HI julie x no you not pushy lol i was joking hahaha..Hatfield Street would have been a tenement so all familys listed would have stayed in building

did some searching today on Scotlands People and found Marriage of Henry Martin to a Rebecca Carnachan/Carnaghan 07/03/1852 O.P.R and birth for Rebecca Martin 1855 to the above also for some reason back then..other children was listed on birthline..no names..just ..1 girl living. 1 boy dec... no sign of elizabeth though 1853 to 1855? and Ange found same info on Familysearch site for marriage

with info you found ill see what i can find around Mary's marriage to John..as her address where she stayed is on cert..and see iff anyone or member of Martin family show up there..then i know its definate link,, lots of info been found and im greatful to all... but still dont seem to have a definate link to Mary and these Martins..i thot she would be there in the 1871 cencus as she was about 13/14 thenbut ill do my bit and cross check if and where possible with Scotlands People...
time for me to get some shut eye

night night julie x

Sorry John thought you would realise and I did sign with a x. Do I really seem pushy??? Don't mean to be! Wondered if this was Henry before marriage:

1851 Scotland Census
about Henry Martin
Name: Henry Martin
Age: 24
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1827
Relationship: Son
Mother's Name: Mary Ann
Gender: Male
Where born: Ireland
Parish Number: 622
Civil Parish: Barony
County: Lanarkshire
Address: 1 Hartfield St
Occupation: Chemical Work Labourer
ED: 38
Page: 27 (click to see others on page)
Household schedule number: 86
Line: 14
Roll: CSSCT1851_141
Household Members: Name Age
Mary Ann Martin 63 Head
Henry Martin 24 Son
Letilia Martin 17 Dau
Rennie Boomer 16 Grandson

Wondered if Rennie was significant as Rebecca Junior called her son Rennie?
Incidentally when I clicked on others on page there are a couple of McEwan families living at the same address - no Rebecca though. Would the address 1 Hartfield Street denote a building or would thay all be living in the same house?!

Aaah don't know John......................getting a bit lost again now! Maybe the LDS searchers went down this same path and made their own facts fit i.e she must be McEwan not Carnican? Mary's record was a SUBMITTED record without factual back up whereas the records that Janice found about the other children were EXTRACTED from microfiche/parish records. Must be time for bed.............If anyone can find this family in 1861 it might help!! Will look in tomorrow fingers crossed that John's brick wall is on it's way to being dismantled...........
