Search trees for Critcher born Mortlake. Somebody has most of the kids in that household in his tree - not Alma though. May be distantly related and going by the 1901 census perhaps.

EvieBeavie Report 24 Feb 2009 03:04

Have another mistranscription.

William Cretcher 29
Alice Cretcher 31
William Cretcher 6
Leonard Cretcher 4
Reginald Cretcher 2
Alice Cretcher 1
Alice Shipway 18 - niece

in East Molesey, Surrey (Kingston district) in 1901.

Vera in 1911 is Alice in 1901.

Ancestry has rearranged its BMDs, and seems to be getting some stuff otherwise than from FreeBMD.

It has the 1935 Alma Critcher birth in what is now its "Birth Index: 1916-2005".

That 1908 Alma Critcher is interesting. Alma junior named for senior, a sister maybe?

Alma senior married:

Marriages Jun 1929
Critcher Alma M Wiltcher Sevenoaks 2a 1859

1911:

CRITCHER ALICE 1871 40 Sevenoaks Kent
> CRITCHER ALMA 1909 2 Sevenoaks Kent
CRITCHER ELLA 1905 6 Sevenoaks Kent
CRITCHER LEONARD 1897 14 Sevenoaks Kent
CRITCHER REGINALD 1899 12 Sevenoaks Kent
CRITCHER VERA 1900 11 Sevenoaks Kent
CRITCHER WILLIAM 1872 39 Sevenoaks Kent
CRITCHER WILLIAM 1895 16 Sevenoaks Kent

The children other than Vera and Alma were actually all born in Kingston. Can't find any matching birth for Vera Cri* around then.

William Walter Critcher married Alice White Mar Q 1894 Kingston.

Considered that Frederick might have been born to Alice before marriage, but that would have made him a little old maybe.

I wondered about the possibility of Alfred too -- could have been called Fred, morphed into Frederick.

Still not getting where this Critchner is coming from.
