Sean

Please can you tell me where you got Lucy from...could she have been called Louisa?

There was a Louisa born 1910, Gateshead, Durham but she died 1918.
I wonder if this may be her and she was in hospital for long period's so was not at home on 1911 census...just a thought!

Was she talked about as though they grew up together?

The only death of a male between 1884 and 1888 who could possibly have been esthers first hubby is this one.
Bit long in the tooth for her though although the right name

Deaths Dec 1885 (>99%)
BOAGEY Francis 68 Hartlepool 10a 74

there is one male death of an 18 year old in 1884 but its in guisborough not hartlepool

This is the only Atkinson / mace birth i can find after 1911 census
maybe this is lou but I think too far away from durham.
Unless they moved that way?

Births Dec 1920 (>99%)
Atkinson Peggy I Mace W. Ham 4a 611

no Boagey /mace births.
different mother maybe, but still no lou or lucy

FannyByGaslight Report 8 Apr 2009 16:21

I totally agree with misty that the hunter boagey/esther bayes are not your line
I have double checked them today as i thought it was a possibility
how can they be married on 1901 and esther also with atkinson
So they are different people.

Sean I saw that info on Ancestry( there is a tree on there) but it does not fit, as Hunter and Esther( Bayes) were still married in 1901....so I dont believe it is the same people...Sorry...might be wrong, will go have another look.

mother coming later going to really study birth cert .

FannyByGaslight Report 8 Apr 2009 15:31

They most certainly did Misty.
What bothers me is the big gap between kids on the 1901,did some die after birth maybe?
I have checked and rechecked for more marriages on esther/mary and john Atkinson and just yours shows.
But for william francis father with esther ,nothing, only one hunter boagey/esther marriage and they go through to 1901.
And where did janes middle name of browell come from?
l am also unable to see a birth of mary esther/esther boagey if she was unmarried when wiliam francis was born.

But one thing I do know that if Boagey had been my surname I wouldnt have wanted to use it!!!
Maybe that is why charles wife wrote all over his birth cert, can you imagine,
hello mrs boagey, and how are your little monsters today?
and the kids at school would have had a dreadful time about other things, well you know what kids are like!
still giggling to myself here, sorry Sean.

oooooh well done you, Viv. I did look for the 1891 one last night but had to give up as I couldnt keep my eye's open!!

Looking at both year's, I think maybe John Atkinson had children when he and Esther (Mary) got together and his youngest was called William also...maybe that's why William Francis became Frank.....What a muddle that would be, having two William Atkinsons in the same house!!

Gosh, didnt they like the name Francis/ Frances....

FannyByGaslight Report 8 Apr 2009 12:56

william francis/frank boagey/atkinson etc 1891,but esther is now Mary, and still born in hartlepool.
The strange thing is that on the image william and frank are down as twins, what is being hidden here? as we know they are not,and both have the same first name anyway.
This is definatley the same family as 1901 though.

Because if it your charles then you will be able to read it properly.

Boagey Charles Edward N Durham 10a 418

Maybe he took on the Atkinson name after he left home to live with John Atkinson if he hated his father for beating him!!
