Hi Lorraine

Thank you for the kind offer of help.

I have William Hardy (Carpenter by trade) born c1816 probably Dorset or Devon, England, married Mary Mayne in Weymouth Dorset in 1839, they had a daughter Emily in 1839 also in Weymouth.

They are in Jersey in 1841 for the census and then I can't find them again In 1861 only Emily, she's married to James Goodridge and living in Hampshire.

Please could you check US and Canadian census for 1850 please and see if they have moved further afield.

NB. Found a William Hardy born 1816 in California on the 1880 census.

Thanks Christine

Hi Lorraine,

I am not sure if you can help me. My great uncle Leslie Harold Parkinson was born in Australia in 1889 and died in Jun 1983 in Florida. He enlisted for WW1 and was injured, he was then sent to the U.K. to recuperate, where he met a lady who I only know as Billie. I know that he married Billie, but have been able to find when or where this happened, there were no children born to this union. Any information on when he went to the U.S.A, married, or any other information would be appreciated. I have been told that he owned a business, but have not been able to confirm this. Thank you

Hi Lorraine,
Can you please find anything on Joseph and Amelia Barnard, they went to Canada from England possibly c1917-18, Joseph was in the Canadian Army. They had 2 sons called Bruce and Jim (James). I believe Joseph died in Canada as Amelia came back to England on her own with the 2 boys when they were still quite young.
I know I haven't given you much to go on but that is all I have at the moment.

Thank you in advance.

Michael Report 5 Jun 2010 23:40

Hi Lorraine

Have had another look at Garlands war records on it it says that he was killed on the 20th March 1945. Its says that he was burried in Henri Chappelle Belguim and then New Hope Cemetry I think as far as I can read is in Georgia aprox 1948. Now as I have said I have had another look at his records and in the event of Garlands mothers death his brother was listed as the next of kin was Albert L May thats what I have in the paperwork but on my thread for my ' aunts first husband' i just have Albert may. Now on the thread it gives him as being as being age 4 on the American federal cenus meaning he was bron in 1916, plus on my thread there seems to be another son age 1 on the 1920 American Federa Census. At the time of this cenus they lived in Polk Tennessee I have no idea if Albert is Dead, but on my thread I have the following for Luther, 'Social Security Death Index
about Luther May
Name: Luther May
SSN: 409-42-9616
Last Residence: 30510 Alto, Habersham, Georgia, United States of America
Born: 25 Mar 1918
Died: Sep 1975
State (Year) SSN issued: Tennessee (Before 1951)'
Is there any way of trying to find out if either Albert or Luther married and had children, maybe i could try and trace the child of Garland May through his brothers children should they have married and had chidren themselves. Witn regards to Garlands mother on the documents that I have some of the documents say Kate May and some say Kate May Erwin so I have no idea if Erwin is her second marriage or a maiden name. On the marrigae certificate that I have for Garland and my aunt it says that Garland's father is dead and thats 1945. the funeral directors that deat with receiving the coffin of Garland was Ritchie and Company, Goergia on the 25th June 1948. And I aso found that the home town for Garland was Isabella Tennessee, maybe thats where he lived with his first wife, but Garlands mother appears to have lived in Alto, Georgia in 1945 when Garland or around the time that Garland was killed at war. Is there anyway that we can trace either of his brothers and their wives and children if they indeed married. I am asking alot from you Lorraine but any help that you can give me I will be trully grateful. Hope to hear from you when you have time. Thank for everything. All the best and thanks Mike

Hi Lorraine,
Don't know when 1st wife died as I have been unable to find her death anywhere. I suspect this is because 'Minnie' was not her real name but a nickname.
It is believed within the family that he went to USA late 30s.
Oleafa was on holiday when she died and I'm sorry for lack of info but I don't know if she was alone or not.
Many thanks for trying to help, I'm very grateful but I knew it would be a long shot.
As he had no children with either wife it is proving impossible to get anything on him.
Sorry for not having more to go on,
kind regards,
Cath
