I'd be very grateful if you can find any info on my Grandmother's brother.

He was David Lawrence Read, born 6 May 1897 in Carlisle, Cumberland. In January 1919 he left the Royal Marines and a note on his service record (that I found last night after some kind help on this site) says to forward his papers to the British Consulate in New York so I assume he emigrated. I'd be really interested to know if there are any records of him in America.

Many thanks for your help,

Sarah

Hi Lorraine,
I think I've found Francis Beech's birth, July 1887 in Caister. On the 1891 census this is where they were living but he's listed as 'Frank'.
Don't suppose you have access to deaths in the USA as this maybe where the parents stayed, only if you're bored though! I worry that I may be leading us both on a wild goose chase though.

Many thanks for all the extra inforation Lorraine. I don't have any certificates I'm afraid. I was just hoping to find out a bit more. I had wondered whether the parents stayed in the USA and he just went to Canada to enlist in the air force because when he died in 1943 he had already been in the air force for 3 years, before the americans had joined the war.

Hi Lorraine,

I'm trying to trace members of WW2 canadian aircrew that flew with a relative of mine. I've managed to make contact with 2 but I'm stuck now!
If you have a chance and are still happy to do so could you see if you can find anything out about this young man?

Charles Trask Beech
DoB 3.9.1923 DoD 17.6.1944. Was living in Scarborough Bluffs, Ontario when he signed up and his death record states that he was in the RCAF for 3 years and was born in the USA.

Parents
Francis/Frank Johnson Beech DoB 13.7.1887 Born in Cleethorpes and emigrated to Canada in 1917
Dorothy Trask Born 1900 in Butleigh, Somerset. Think she went to USA.

Anything you come across would be appreciated, was wondering whether he had any siblings really that may still be alive and potentially contactable.

Many thanks,

Nikki
