Jilliflower Report 24 Oct 2009 12:01

Hi Angela,
what a generous offer!
Could you possible look up the Phelps family from 1912 please. Most of the family went to Canada in 1913 and I think the jewellery firm of Phelps Brothers had ceased trading - or had it? One of the daughters married a Pearsall so he could have carried it on in Birmingham. I'm sure charles Phelps was a musician and music teacher after the firm ceased. They lived in the Aston and Hockley area, but I'm not sure where the jewellery firm was.
Sorry if I'm asking too much - just tell me if I am!
thanks,
Jill
PS I think some of them lived in Handsworth/Soho road area.

Hi Angi.. thanks for the offer.. can you check a couple for me please?

Albert and Alice Foster - think they may have been living in Erdington, Birmingham around 1916

Also Edwin and Agnes Pearce.. Agnes does not appear on the 1911 census so would be nice to know if she appears on the electoral roll

Thanks.... Pauline xx

Hi Angie,

Thanks, I have found a birth for the name Holley (that's the spelling on the register) and mother's maiden name is correct, so searched for her death incase Hilda was another child. But can't find a death or a birth for Hilda with correct mother's name. So perhaps it's the same child but using a 'pet' christian name.

Thanks again for all your help, it's been tremendous.

Good Luck, Lou

Please can you see if you can find Harry Paddock and Eugine Paddock. they came from Aston in Birmingham. Harry was born about 1889 and Eugine (nee Chorley ) was born c1885. they married in Sept 1912 and I have been unable to find them since. Any help in tracking these down would be really great. thank you very much for your help

Sheila,

There are too many results on all of the children as well, at least 6 pages of them :)

If you have any of their spouses in the future, let me know and I will search again.

Sorry I wasn't much help.

Carol,

Nothing for any Joseph Reddall's in 1912.

There are 2 for 1918 onwards, but not with a middle name of George.

Lou,

The register doesn't have ages I'm afraid, it literally states the address and everyone's name at that address eligible to vote, but as you are probably aware, not everyone who could vote wanted to - this is why some people aren't on the list. Which is very frustrating :)

Have you found a birth for Hilda/Holly? It would be easier to find which is the right name for her if you have the Mother Maiden name.

There is a birth for Hilda M. Baker, Aston 1914, MMN Carpenter. But nothing for the same period for a Holly M. Baker.
