Hi MaureeninNY.

Not found out yet she , from the thread she was born in Bacup Lancashire 1850/51/52.

If you do find out please let me know.

Thank you for your interest, for me this is great as my middle name is Rochford and this is a big part of why i wanted to find out about Frances Rochford nee Donley and her husband John Rochford who's parents were Thomas and Bridget, so i will follow up on these too they were in county sligo.

Regards Simon.

Hi to you All.

I have the birth cert for Frances Donley her mother sarah's maiden name was Lord born Bacup 1850/51, i cant find sarah's parents or her marriage to John Donley who was born 1852, please see early messages on this thread.

Any help in locating Sarah in early years or her parents and marriage to John Donley would really help.

Regards Simon.

Simon Report 5 Nov 2009 16:41

HELP PLEASE.

Ok i have Frances mum as Sarah Donley nee lord born Oldham 1851/2 in 1881 she is living with John Donley in Manchester and a Cad born 1873.

In 1891 John Donley is in sheffield with Eda born 1874 and other daughters including FRANCES. BUT NO Sarah!

In 1901 Eda marries next door William Reid but shows as nee Whittaker not Donley

And John and Sarah are back together.

I am wondering if Sarah was married some time in 1872/3 and had Cad and Eda and then married John Donley later and had The rest as the next child is 1883 a 10 year gap.

IF SOME ONE HAS THE TIME TO PRINT ALL THIS THREAD AND SEND THE TIME TO WORK OUT THAT WOULD BE FANTASTIC.

All info is on the thread, i just can't work it out!!

I have tried but am new to all this, i would be happy to forward helpers a box of Chocs, please help i am in a real mess with this one.

Kind regards Simon.

Hi Simon,
I worked on this for hours this morning and got nowhere.

Just a couple of points-there's no such person as Cad. That's just Eda.
This is possibly her birth:
Name: Eda Whittaker
Year of Registration: 1874
Quarter of Registration: Apr-May-Jun
District: Oldham
County: Greater Manchester, Lancashire
Volume: 8d
Page: 618

IF (and it's a big IF) that's her ,I wonder if the certificate might shed a little more light on Sarah?

I don't see any likely marriages-LORD, WHITTAKER, DON*LEY,etc.

Sorry!

Simon Report 5 Nov 2009 17:44

Hi maureen.

I will order the cert, i seem to remember my mother saying that Sarah had been married before!! that would account for the Whittaker or was she born out of wed lock to a boyfriend, my mum said an american!!.

I do think it is Eda that is sister to Frances as the rest fits when living in Sheffield.

And Frances showing as sister in law to william and eda reid.

Yes i never thought of Cad been Eda, and i spen hours on that.

I will order that cert and see, thank you so much for your help, is this a case of you need to find out as much as me because you have done so much work.

If you think of anything else please let me know.

BIG THANK YOU.

Hi,

I do not have access to the 1891 census but have done a basic search and can't look at the results.

I have found a Sarah Lord born 1850 living in Todmorden Yorkshire (West Riding) for my search I put born in Bacup.

If anyone could check to see please.

Hurrah for Dea!!!!

That one won't likely help, but at least we'll have some clue as to which Whittaker she might (or might not have) married.

Good luck,Simon!

Don't be disheartened Sal,

Your input 'could' have been the breakthrough!!

Every little bit helps, even if you can't follow it through because of lack of access, it could help us 'crack' the case!

Keep up the good work.

Hi Everyone,

sorry i went missing for a while, this all seems to be adding up, all the Whittaker birtsh are in th1870's and the Donley births ar 1880's and Sarah was older when she arrived with John Donley on the 1881 register so could have been maried before or had the kids out of wed lock before John came on the seen.

I can't help but say thank you all so far, i just know like me you can't leave this one alone!!

BIG thank you, how many boxes of Chocs so far!
