Find Ancestors

I have been tryig to trace back my great aunts and her husbands family and would be greatful for any help.. My great aunt Ruth Lloyd married John Cotter in Plymouth 1909. She was born in 1886 in Exeter and died in 1917in Plymouth. She had brothers Albert and Samuel. Cant find a father for her but mother was Mary Ann. Any trace of them in the census.
John Cotter was born 1886 in Plymouth. I believe his parents were William John Cotter and Jessie Soper, who married in Stoke Dameral, Plymouth in 1884. Are there any parents for her in the census. William Cotter was a petty officer in the navy and born in ireland proabably about 1857. Jessie was born c1860 Any help much appreciated.

That looks very promising. Never knew of a worcestershire connection. I dont have ruths birth certificate yet.

If you look at Ledbury it actually covers Worcs too. Obviously the same family. The children in 1891 were born all over the place - will amend post to reflect this.

Husband must have been away at sea or something.

She is recorded as a widow on both censuses - I wonder!

So the father ?Lloyd may have died 1899/1900. Possibly in Plymouth. Are there records of ny deaths of a ?Lloyd in Plymouth at that time?

Can't see Ruth's birth but this might be Margaret:

And husband born Birmingham!!! His occupation was pedlar which explains all of it!

Thats brilliant well found. The names of the siblings seem to fit in. So William Lloyd married Mary Ann c1871/3 possibly in Worcestershire and then travelled north with his work, Any sign of a marriage anywhere.
