My Melody's birthday today. 7 years old. That's in human years - she's 49 in doggy years so they say. I'll need a mathematician to know when to celebrate her big 50!

SylviaInCanada Report 23 May 2010 20:20

Hi Sylvia

Yes - they're both retired racers - Topper the poorly old chap was 11 in January. You're just a spring chicken then. I'm in my 74th year!

My daughter is only member of my family with a degree. After 10 years working in accounts she became a mature student and got a degree in Speech & Language Therapy. Really proud of her!

I'm suffering the curse of the redhead. Delicate skin. Love the sun but the sun doesn't love me. A short while out weeding yesterday and I'm all blotchy. Covered up today and headed for the cool of a large supermarket in Winchester.

Certainly a chatty crowd on the Help Us to Help You on Tips. Suppose with time you learn who comes from where.

See ya

Hi Jeanie

I'm also pale skinned and have to keep out of the sun ... but I used to have blond hair.

That Help Us thread is in its 3rd go-round ................ it has been deleted twice for reasons unknown.

We started off nudging to keep the tips at the top of the board, then gradually began talking ....... just as we have done on this thread! Which is why I thought you might enjoy it.

One of the ladies on there is 77, one of the men says he is a little older. The rest of us seem to be between 50-ish and those two.

sleep tight

we're just cooking dinner ...... roast pork tonight.

Having sent some birth details of living relatives to someone I then recieve tree details ect replied saying" why do you think we are related I only sent you the details but I am affraid we are not related."
I later explain we only try to help and the likely hood of any reletive seeing her message is vertually nil so I then get this message

Dont you think it would have been a good idea to let people know that you are only helping them in the first place and yes we thought about how quick it was but I do believe your wording on the 2nd email could have been a little more polite. We are only novices at this but I would like to think that we are not rude to people. Please do not contact us again.

so I give up

Goodness me Jax! That is unbelievable to get a message like that. How can people be so rude? Must be very disheartening when you are trying to help them. I'm sure your message was not impolite.

Morning Sylvia. Roast pork! Delicious. Mouth watering. I'll go and have a second breakfast.

As to other thread on Tips - only thing I can dredge up apart from William Wordsworth's Daffodils is something like - I must go down to the sea again, to the lonely sea and the sky and all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by. Love that one but not sure I've got it all right.

jax Report 24 May 2010 13:08

Well I didnt think so Jeanie, I also went on to give details on doing an electrol roll search, so I was still trying to be helpful. Whether they thought I was related because one of the births had the same christian name as me, or was it because I replied within 10 mins of them posting?? and as we all know our relies are sitting on GR waiting 24/7 for us to find them ha ha

jax

Dozey

Dozey Report 24 May 2010 16:12

Think I would have ignored what they said about not contacting them again and told them not to be so rude in future. You shouldn't have to take that from anyone Jax.

I feel quite :-(((

jax

jax Report 24 May 2010 16:46

Oh it does'nt bother me Jeanie, I just will not look for long lost cousins anymore hehe
I had one a while ago who wouldnt give much info to me but in the end I found all his aunts and uncles being born in the area I live in, which he knew already as they were all on his tree. I then get a reply asking what my interest is in his family?? and where do I live now? as though I was some sort of spy.
So if these people think they are going to find thier relatives by just putting a few names down, then good luck to them

jax

Dozey

Dozey Report 24 May 2010 22:01

Will not let it bother me either Jax. Just think how much nicer it would be if people would be a little more friendly and considerate. Ah well, do not suppose they will until hell freezes.

Good night to you and anyone else taking a peek at this thread.

I, like a number of other helpers, have a short black list of people we will not help or contact again

..... because of the commentsor reaction they have made/ had to us in response to our attempted help.

I heard about people having black lists when I first started on these boards back in 2003 ..... thought "not me". I would never do that.

That I came across a prime example

Number one in the book!

Jeanie ...... I don't even try to compete with them! I never really liked poetry, it was just one of the things I had to learn. Can't even remember it now!

so you're one step ahead of me!

Hi Jeanie and Sylvia a quick nudge before I go and make Dinner.

Dozey

Dozey Report 25 May 2010 09:27

Hi KiwiBird - good evening in case you've popped back in after dinner. When I worked in exports I had a little pencil pot with map of the globe round it. Was great - could twist it round to current time in England and then look round to where you wanted to communicate to see what time it was there. Wonder if I've still got it stashed somewhere. Would do me just fine now.

Expect Sylvia has gone off to the land of Nod by now.
