Here's what i think to be Joseph the son marrying....

London, England, Marriages and Banns, 1754-1921
about Joseph Benjamin Chesney
Name: Joseph Benjamin Chesney
Age: Full Age
Estimated birth year: abt 1843

Record Type: Marriage
Event Date: 23 Apr 1843

County: Middlesex
Borough: Greenwich
Father Name: Joseph Benjamin Chesney
Spouse Father Name: Jane Hulkes

He cannot be the father to Elizabeth as her baptism record clearly has Joseph & Elizabeth as parents.

I need to try and find a widowed Elizabeth on the 1851 as the children were in the workhouse.

Both are Widowed and this Joseph is a printer.

Incidentally, Joseph Benjamin senior was also a printer... Could our elderly Joseph have married a younger woman and had the 2 children?

ok

Silverbirch

Silverbirch Report 28 Feb 2010 00:45

I don't think that marriage can be the right one as the groom needs to be Alfred (or if it is the matching marriage to the children, then they are not the right Birchs).

Anyway, thank you all very, very much for your efforts. You've been great.

I'll sign off now but will be back tomorrow evening (busy during the day)!

Sleep well!

Mel, the John Birch looks right as I remember my Dad saying he thought the Birchs went back to Wales!

Tracey, not sure about the Chesneys yet. If the possible marriage that Mel found between Joseph Benjamin and Elizabeth Russell or Pearce 19 Jun 42 is the right one, the death of the older Joseph Benjamin and this marriage you've just found - to Ann Burbia - may be another Chesney family? It's so difficult to be sure when the trail goes further back! Exciting though!
