I am trying to find the family of my g.grandmother Lucy Bennett born around 1867 father John Bennett (not the Lucy Bennett born to John & Martha Bennett Simpsons Sq. Shrewsbury 1867)
On her daughters birith certificate she was named as Lucy Bennett, on her marriage certificate July 1895 she was named Louisa Bennett m to William Shotton, both give their residence at time of marriage as Bayston Hill, then on her death certificate she was named Lucy Shotton.
1871 census address John Wrights House, Church Preen living with John & Sarah Bennett she is named Louise Bennet place of birth Cardington. 1881census she is named Lucy Bennett living at the Fox Inn Ryton -servant born in Cressage, all this is if I have got the correct Lucy.
I need help to find where Lucy/Louisa/Louise as born and who her parents were - any help appreciated.

I've tried Lyth Hill & Bayston Hill on FMP - no luck!!

Sorry Sandra - FMP is Findmypast. You can search by address on there which you can't on Ancestry.

I would suggest a new thread just to ask if anyone would be willing to look on FMP, but make them aware of this thread when you do so or they will become grumpy!

See if someone with FMP might be able to do a street search 1891 looking for Barratts Lyth Hill/Bayston Hill.
Have you considered joining the Shropshire FHS? It's only £7 and they would be best able to advise re. parish registers etc.

Have had a look at that village and I see a Lyth Hill Rd. which would tie in nicely with her 1911 birthplace. Need to think!

!891 William was a lodger at Ensden Village Montford Shropshire. The only Louisa Bennett I can find in 1891 is living in Yorkshire but she was born in Shrewsbury Shropshire.
They both gave the address of Bayston Hill on their marriage certificate, that is a very small village on the outskirts of Shrewsbury.
How do I get in touch with Mark?

Sandra, I don't think that will help as it will be the same people seeing your new thread. Have you already tried looking for common ancestors in other peoples' trees?
The only other things I can think of right now are - have you found William in 1891? And looked at the addresses they gave when they married? Just thinking you could "look around" for Lucy nearby??

EDIT I can see someone called mark who has a matching William.

yes Marion I now accept that my Lucy died in Shrewsbury and the 'other' Lucy was not mine.
It would be a lot easier if I could find 'my' Lucy's birth I would have something to go on then.

Sorry to butt in here, but have you seen the death cert for the Lucy who died in Birmingham. I only ask because Yardley Green was the fever hospital & is where Heartlands Hospital is now. They mainly dealt with TB cases, but don´t think there was a graveyard. That would have been Yardley cemetery which is a couple of miles away in Acocks Green.
The fact that "your" Lucy died in Shropshire makes me suspect that she never left there & that the other Lucy is a red herring.

Chin up Sandra, she has been dead a lot of years another fews days won't hurt lol.
Plutter away on another line/person, you never know what you will find.
I know how you feel though.

I am so disappointed, even though I rang the local records and research library yesterday and the gentleman assured me that they would be open today (Good Friday) and I have got all my relevant paperwork together, I decided to go on the website and just make sure they were open, NO they are closed until next Wednesday how many more disappointments can I have?

The informant was J S Rabman, Occupier 181/2 Holyhead Rd. Wellington Salop; which was the work house at that time. Under occupation it reads 'of 134 Frankwell Shrewsbury widow of William Shotton Farm Labourer'
Please don't tell me it's early days yet I feel as though I have been through the mill; as my Grandmother was illegitimate I decided to go though her mothers line and traced them back several generations - what a waste of time.

Sandra, please excuse me if again I have missed something - there is such a lot of info on this thread now. Just wondering who the informant was for Lucy's death?
Sorry this has taken such a turn - just shows what surprises there can be in this game, both good and otherwise. But keep on searching, it's early days yet.
