The distraction I had yesterday, was a contact via the tree with a Caroline Smith. Decided wrong Caroline as her father Thomas, but she was born in Monken Hadley, same as GLW. Not that big a place, so must be a link somewhere. Wondered if Samuel and Thomas could be brothers, but, my Samuel with Caroline, Matilda and Sophia all linked to Surrey.

Please remember I do not have a tree in front of me. You are able to enter what you find into a tree and see it.

That was the first mention of Judith.

Why have you not mentioned you had her before?

Next question is where on earth is it?

History
Monken Hadley was originally a civil parish of Middlesex forming part of a small protrusion into Hertfordshire. In 1889, under the Local Government Act 1888, the civil parish was transferred to Hertfordshire. Under the Local Government Act 1894 the parish was split with a Hadley parish becoming part of the Barnet Urban District, while the remaining part of the parish became part of the East Barnet Urban District of Hertfordshire. In 1965, under the London Government Act 1963, its area was transferred to Greater London and combined with that of other districts formerly in Hertfordshire and Middlesex to form the present-day London Borough of Barnet.[1]

Hi,
Have got GLW born 1792. His son GLW with 1st wife Judith, christened 1824, you just mentioned. Who is the 3rd please.
Of these 2, GLW 1792 assuming my William's father, as GLW 1824 too young, therefore GLW 1824 my William brother. Both on latest message.

There were 3 Charles Langridge Williams. There was father and son.
That showed on one of the records I posted earlier.

Hi Lady kiri,
Thanks for baptisms for Matilda and Caroline. Matilda is older than I had thought, in fact 11 years older than her husband. On 1851 census, which I know 100% is correct family, shows Matildas age as 25, which is where I got her birth year of 1826. Doubts keep creeping in, but all the paperwork seems to show she is the correct Matilda. It would mean there would have to be 2 George Landgridge Williams and 2 Smith families with father Samuel and daughters Matilda, Caroline and Sophia. Surely unlikely. So confused. I really hoped that I could find someone else with same sisters and father, and check spouses for them., to confirm same as mine.
Thanks again for help. I will keep checking here today for any responses. Yesterday was distracted by another possible link via messages.
Gill
