Many many thanks Rache you have answered a lot of questions for me. Obviously the reason I couldn't find the Janaways was because they had died so young. I have not found Eliza Alice and her son in 1891 census but found the son Robert John with his grandfather in the 1901 census. By 1911 it appears from FreeBMD that the son had married.
Your help has been tremendous and has put flesh on the bones of the story. thanks again
Robyn

Thanks very much Rache,
Could you look up the following two people on the 1911, again I have got free search details.
We did try for George a few days ago but came up blank. However, info from relative in England seems to think he was living 1911 near Eccles, Manchester not far from his daughter. His wife had left and we think he was boarding.

HOUSEHOLD HARTLEY GEORGE M 1860 51 Salford Lancashire

This appears to be the wife who took off.

HOUSEHOLD HARTLEY ELEANOR F 1864 47 Axbridge Somersetshire

Thanks Chris

Thanks again Rache - these are some of the family - now managed to trace Clara's family- maiden name was fogerty - managed to trace back to her father and grandfather - now stumped!!
Grandfather - Michael fogerty - born 1818 in Ireland - but where unknown. I assume census for Ireland was separate to England. Where would I go from here?

Thanks Rache - would appear these may not relate - although Town Head farm is mentioned - I know of family who lived at the Town Head -so distinct possibility they relate - will have to delve further.

Could you do a look up for a william Main born 1906 - Ulgham either living at Town Head or the Manor Farm - he was married to a Lillian Wright - born 1903 - widdrington.

Much appreciated
Alison

Hi Rache,
Could I ask where you found the birth of Robert John Janaway junior, because you knew the names of both parents. I have not ever found where I can do that. It's just that I wondered if there was maybe another child.
cheers
Robyn

Hi Rache

I'm trying to find my great Aunts, Alice Daniels born 1894, she may have been married in 1911 in which case she would have been Alice Litherland. Martha Daniels 1895, if she was married in 1911 she would have been Martha Jones. and Mary Daniels, born 1898 they where all born in St.Helens, Lancashire, (now Merseyside). Their parents where Henry and Martha Daniels. Hope you can help.
Thanks
