Good morning all........and thank you for breakfast Sylvs....cereal for me please :-D

Love the wedding stories. It's 45 years for us next month and I can still remember quite a lot of it. An ex boyfriend of mine said he would 'film' some of it for us - on a 6 mm film. We eventually had it transferred to video and there is a about 10 minutes of it - mostly me arriving at the church with my dad and then the photos afterwards. There is also a great view of the church paving stones!!!

Actually, it's a reminder for me to take the video in to be transferred to dvd - how times change... :-D

Glad everything went well Linds :-)

Off for a quick browse and then into town......~~~~

Cyns and Toots .........

good stories!!

My wedding .....................

OH was in Texas by the time we were arranging our wedding, and so I did much of it. We decided to marry in the church his family went to, way out in the countryside, near Chester.

OH came home about 10 days before the wedding .................. and the vicar, who did know OH of course, said he would like to have a meeting with us.

We duly went ........ and the vicar went through the whole service, including explaining that he would meet me at the door of the church and walk down the aisle with my father and I.

he had a very reasonable reason ........... the first thing he had to ask was "did anyone have any objections to the marriage", and he felt this was very harsh ............ so he liked to soften it by welcoming the bride at the door.

All very well and good .................. until the day

He met Dad and I at the door, walked us down the aisle , turned around and stood on the steps to the chancel and ...........................................

gave the congregation the whole explanation as to why he'd met us

It just got me, and I started giggling, trying to stop the giggles, more giggles

I can't remember much of the wedding!!

Then into the vestry where OH's mother jumped forward to grab the marriage certificate when the vicar said my new name

Then, a little discussion with the vicar as we were to leave the vestry ................ the recessional music had been changed that morning when OH's musician friend discovered that the organ had been replaced with a harmonium ................. only no-one had told the vicar.

Finally, the local farmer beginning to lead his cows home for milking just as the cars were about to turn out onto the road.

Cynthia and Toots those stories made me smile :-)

On the day of my wedding my Dad was charged with taking our suitcases to the place where we were having our reception.

He didn't know how to get there so (having nothing else to do 3 hours before the ceremony) I jumped in the car to show him the way.

Approaching a set of lights a double decker bus decided it wanted to be in our lane!! it was on my side so if dad hadn't managed to avoid it (and I don't know how he did) I wouldn't have made the wedding.

My dad looked for that driver for weeks afterwards we didn't think to report it at the time.

On the upside everyone said I looked really calm on the day ;-)

Just popped in before I sit down and watch some tv.

The christening went well . F smiled all the way through it and O was good also.

F was the only baby being christened so we had the church to ourselves.

It stayed dull but dry :-)

We all had a nice day.

O is still under the weather after being sick last night she slept for two and a half hours today and hasn't ate much.

My son is back form his gig in Kiev which went well. I will catch up on the last couple of days news tomorrow.

Good one Toots..... :-D :-D :-D

I sometimes watch the You've been framed programme and some of the things on there re weddings, are funny to watch now but must have been horrendous at the time....you know, falling/fainting/blowing away etc........horrendous but momentous! :-D

It's things like that which make a wedding day memorable.

On my wedding day the Priest could pronounce Carlo's name and kept asking me what's his name so I now maintain when I said my vows the priest said do you TootyFruity take What's his name to be your lawful wedded husband. LOL

Victoria Day seems to have come round quickly Sylvs, where does time go?

Had to laugh earlier. Our vicar was telling us about the 2 weddings he had yesterday. He felt really sorry for one of the brides apparently. It seems as though she had a 'bolero' type little jacket on which fastened, by press studs, to the dress. Unfortunately, the material of the dress was so heavy that the studs kept popping open and she had to keep adjusting herself.

At the other wedding, the bride caught her heel in the hoop of her dress after kneeling, and couldn't get up again. The bridegroom had to go on almost all fours to crawl under the dress to release the heel. It seems as though a good time was had by all, despite these complications...... :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

Tomorrow is Victoria Day .........

............ celebrated on the Monday before May 24

May 24 was Queen Victoria's birthday :-)

Across Canada, May 24 is the traditional day to begin planting your garden, for farmers to sow seed, etc etc

.... that is unless you are my husband, who starts planting as soon as possible, and usually no later than the beginning of April :-D.

It does help that we live in the "Banana Belt"

The May 24 weekend is also traditionally regarded as the beginning of summer ................... people go camping, to their summer cottage / cabin, sort all those items needed during the summer, etc etc

and it more often than not .................... rains :-(
