julia,

go into Familysearch .org
on the top bar click on 'search records' without scrolling down
it takes you to various options in the left column
choose IGI
takes you to a page with boxes to fill in.
Type in Turner in the "Last name" box
and type in the name Jane in the forename box
put 1822 in the year box
Choose region British Isles for the region, England for the country and Northampton in the county box

then hit the search button.
Jane's record will come up.
Click on her underlined name and an IGI individual record will show/
bottom left hand corner click on the batch number
and you will be taken back to the first entry page.
******dont worry its alright.
just click on the search button again
and wow
lots of names come up in alphabetical order
and one sees they all come from EYE
there are lots of pages so when you get to the bottom of each page click "next"
and thats how you work through the names from A to Z
Turner names Ann, Jane, Mary Ann and John appear as record numbers 365 to 368

really hope this procedure can get you sorted
Annette

Rebecca

Welcome to my thread.
How marvellous that you still have connections in the area.
If you read from the beginning, which I'm sure you already have, then you can see just who and what we are looking for.

Id like to know if your folk have any knowledge about whether Thomas Sutton, born 1789 in Thorney is a brother to one William Sutton baptised 08 Nov 1785. William being the son of James Sutton and Mary Hewles of Thorney.

EDIT: Thomas 1759 is uncle to William 1785 who is son of James b 1757

William was the schoolmaster and also the parish clerk in EYE until 1861
Both William and Thomas's families lived in Eye.
If anyone knew of them being brothers then that would be my missing link.
I know that David who married Charlotte Palmer of Pinton was Thomas Sutton's son and was born in 1832
and David's family resided Low Fen Road and later in Soke Road, Newborough area.
David's son Richard Palmer Sutton in the 1901 census his occupation is mole catcher.

Regards from Annette

Moonbi, Good Morning, re Charlotte Palmer. I contacted someone on here through Search Trees, and asked if the Charlotte Palmer they had in their tree married your David Sutton. The answer I received was "Yes, she did". Some answer. I PM'd back asking her to take this statement further, but zilch, no answer.
Sorry, will try harder for you

hi Irene

You have the Palmer name in your tree? yes?

have just realised that a Charlotte Palmer married David Sutton. they lived around Newborough and are buried in Newborough. also their son Richard Palmer Sutton baptised 28 March 1864 and daughter Charlotte bap. 19 October 1856 and another son David bap.18 Dec 1859.

are these related to you?

Irene
re pilot search.
if a village or town name is not in the drop down box
then
you will still have to do the sifting process.

I did notice that a few extra town names have been added recently
I only wish Thorney was one of them.

My Turners were all in Dorset - and are still there - as far as I know

My Turner married a Palmer - also from Dorset - and the majority of them are still there

I am looking for Read - Setchfield ( he was the blacksmith in Coates ) Rudkin ( who came in from Castle Byham and Bourne ) Fox - who drifted in from Manea and a few Cole - Thulborn - from Chatteris and in and out of Thorney

Mixture really - all roaming around the Fens working on the farms

All a mixture - of my odd and ends

Take care

morning all,
I have been sifting through the census records and found my ggg father's sister Mary born 1821 in the 1841 census.
she was age 20 and at "High Drove" Borough Fen.
and I also see Ellen Briggs age 15 years FL Ellen was to become Mary's sister in law, as Ellen married Peter Sutton in 1850
{ it was Peter and Ellen who came to Australia}

I see on my "old map" Borough Fen area is north of Newborough.
but where was High Drove located within this area.
The census image shows 25 people of varying ages all living at the same residence.
There are AG Labs, FL and ML, 2 farmers and a schoolmaster and his family.
It must have been an interesting place
But cant seem to find other references to this property, or who owned it.
My guess is that the 2 farmers were tenant farmers.
any ideas?

Irene, Good Morning, some of my Turners are from Whittlesey, Thorney and Eye. Not sure about the Coates bit. Whittlesey since 1824 ish, and Thorney and Eye before.
If that helps

Thanks for info re Pilot search - I had not realised that you could put the village name in front of the county - so had been trolling thru all cambs - for Coates and Whittlesey - Thorney and Eye

Well found
