Trying to find connection of James Fordyce who died in WW1 1918 to families of either Dewar, Dennison or Aitken of East Lothian, Scotland. James may have lived in South Shields in 1901. His mother may be a Mary Jane Fordyce. It may be that Mary Jane is the link to any of the above named families so her maiden name might be useful.

There was a marriage in 1881 of a Jane Fordyce to a John Milne in Rathven so that is possibly where you should look.
