Hi Lorraine,

No sorry, just when he arrived in New Zealand.
he family had received confirmation that he reached America, as word had reached his family that because of the terrible journey he would never sail again.
They believed he was killed in 1906 disaster due to the fact he was never heard of again.

regards
Jinet

Jinet Report 7 Aug 2011 21:42

Hi Lorraine,

Thank you so much for your kind offer, I hope you dont mind, it may just be a long shot.

James William Neve b. 1881 Loddon in Norfolk.

On the 10 November 1892 Ester aged 31 years and her sons James 11 years and infant departed from London bound for Wellington in New Zealand aboard the ship Tongariro owned by the New Zealand Shipping company.

I have since found out that he sailed from New Zealand to America and possibly perished in the 1906 earthquake disaster of San Francisco. So far I have not come across his name on the lists of deceased.

Could you please see if you can find any information as regards to his arrival in America or his settling should he hav survived.

Thank you so much
Jinet

Thank you Calhame, I have never seen that web site before.

Thank you Lorraine, Its all good information and I have not seen any of it before.

I was wondering, as I now have the correct regiment and number for Charles. Is there somewhere I can look up records of while he was in the army?

Thanks

Steve

Hi Lorraine

Thank you for all the info you gave me on Frances Ellen Dunstan last night.

Like you, I am unable to trace her after she arrived in USA, even though we have addresses for her.

Don't know anything about her two sons in the name of Price, though!

Anyway, thanks again!

HI Lorraine,

I am trying to find out some information on my great uncle which I believe during the first world war joined the canadian army. His name was Charles Rix born 1895 in West Ham. Father was William Rix and mother Jane Rix. Charles had a number of brothers and sisters but an elder brother (George Rix) was already living in Canada but he was a preacher and did not join up. Unfortunatley I do not know which year Charles joined up.

I hope you can help.

Thanks
Steve

Hi

Wonder if you wouldnt mind taking a look at the following for me. I can find nothing on him at all!

I cant find anything on my man after his marriage in London to Marie Fletcher 1943. The marriage did not last and I have lost him after this

I really would like to trace him in both directions please

Marriage cert details:

John Arthur Powers (Corporal M 59518 RC ASC) 1912c, father Paul Arthur Powers (Engineering designer)

Witnesses: Leula Belinger & J Busk (I think these people may have been dragged off the street to witness the shot gun marriage)

Address in 1943: 246 Turnswater Drive, Olympia, Washington

Thanks so much
