If born in 1845, then this could be his death, but then he should be with Ellen on the 1871 census, and I have not yet found them:

You need to get the marriage certificate to sort out his age and profession and father. You need his age for estimated age at death. Do you have them in any censuses, or are you just trying to follow Ellen?
There are various Richard Bawdens and Richard Bowdens around.
