I don't think Edith b 1906 would be of much help as you have all the details already of Ada b 1908's siblings

we have still not proved ada's parentage
john william or robert but tracing Elizabeth may be helpful.
we just have elizabeth living near ada and baxendales on the same street as Samuel.
but we still have this

IF Elizabeth Botcher is related to you (have we proved that yet?) this could be Lucy Edith's baptism

Baptisms: 3 Jan 1900 St Mary, Walton on the Hill, Lancashire, England
Edith Lucy Jones - Child of John Frederick Jones & Elizabeth
Born: 8 Dec 1899
Abode: 13 Peveril Street Walton

Baptised by: F. Johnson (Curate).
Register: Baptisms 1894 - 1902, Page 302, Entry 2399

this would match with that marriage in New York (apart from Elizabeth's birthplace - this time Doncaster - Dorchester a mistranslation?) & John F was a ship's steward, presumably at sea in 1901

I think that you have confused what you know with what has been found for you over the years. I think you will need to put aside everything you think you know and work from there. you have ada mary's marriage cert and some census info. we have found some bassindales on the same street as the mellors so that may well be how they met,

why not try to make a tree for those bassindales just to see where that leads?

i also think mary would be a good name to try.

i have often come across people who are called by their middle name. seems quite common in lancashire.

dutch

dutch Report 29 Jan 2011 15:11

Elizabeth had daughter called Ada and Ada called one of her daughters Elizabeth Mary, thats why i thought they might have been sisters i tell you that did,nt half give us the round around trying to find them, have them all on my g,fathers side the Mellors but nothing for g,mother at all its mistery
