Hi Kerri,
Hope you had a good break. When I posted my last message, I said Mary was the younger sister of John Howard. In fact according to the death certificate she was actually older than John....sorry about that.

Hi Adrian
I searched the Australian National Archives for a soldier in WW1 named Mr LAWRENCE who had as next of kin- Marjory / Marjorie LAWRENCE.
He could have had his parents listed as NOK & later changed his NOK to Marjorie. But you would need to look at the images to see that info.
There are 2538 hits of LAWRENCE from 1914-1918.
Search as a guest-to see images click on what looks to be picture of pages.

Sorry not much help.
Cheers

Kerri,
I am searching for details of an Australian soldier of WW1 who married Marjorie Bate circa 1916 in England, perhaps London.
Soldier Lawrence is said to have shot himself rather than return to duties. We can find no record of the marriage ,the records may have been destroyed in an air raid [WW2] .
Marjorie gave her name as Lawrence at her second marriage .
Can you assist ,regards Adrian [for her grandaughter]

Hi Kerri,
Could you please look in the Victorian church records for the birth of John Howard...father Thomas, at Collingwwod This would give me some indication as to when the family arrived.
I have an old record I took off fiche years ago, of a birth in 1851 to Thomas James & Mary but doesn't tally with his age at death.

I have his death in 1852 age 3 at Collingwood...father Thomas

I'm also looking for the birth and death of his younger sister Mary who appeared on her father's death certificate when I got it recently. It would be great if you could sort out this long standing brick wall for me. I have the next child ,my grandfather, William, who was born in 1853 to Thomas James Howard and Esther.

Thanking you....Heather

Sorry having a senior moment. What I am trying to find is George Henry Greene and wife Roseanna whose daughter Roseanna married Frederick Wood as per the record you posted. I have tried trove but will persist and keep searching. Have not been able to find Roseanna's birth which would have been about 1843. On her death certificate it lists her parents as above and also her place of birth as Adelaide South Australia. The record does not seem to exist though so that is not helping my cause in trying to trace the parents back.

Thanks
Pat

Hi Pat
Have you tried searching TROVE? You can narrow the search dates/State/etc.

Getting a bit confused with your query. You said-
"Trying to find a birth in South Australia for Frederick William Wood born circa 1834 Father William John Wood."
and then-
"His daughter Roseanna Greene (wife's name also) was married in 1860 in Truro at just 17 years of age and she married a miner Frederick William Wood":

Marriage in SA -

Thats not good news about your computer - nice to get a new one though. Do you know if I can research people who have migrated to South Australia in or around 1840. Reading history it states that Australia advertised for Miners to get free transport to assist with the mining in Truro. His daughter Roseanna Greene (wife's name also) was married in 1860 in Truro at just 17 years of age and she married a miner Frederick William Wood. I thought you might know if there is any way of searching.
Thanks
