I did check out the other burials in Annie's grave. It appears to be a common one. (18 other people!)
(Note to Chris-I'm green with envy. Olympia, nice man AND free credits!!? Humph! I)

It may be worth while paying at deceasedonline to see who else is in that lair with Annie Martin Pescott. I can't remember offhand how much it costs but it isn't very much.

EDIT

Just had a look 30 credits cost £3.00 and for 15 credits you can see who is buried in that lair.

(catches up!)

Things looking good... nice find Maureen, surprising what's turning up on Deceased Online, Frederick and Emily Devan are there too, (will stick details on later) there are quite a few Prescotts which probably relate as well down the line :-)

(I spoke to a very nice man at Olympia yesterday, and am awaiting free credits for that site, lol, will come in handy here!)

Chris :)

St. Pancras Cemetery.
Emily Devan buried 4th April 1950 (age 68) 9, Barham Close, Wembley, Middx.
Frederick Devan buried 7th April 1930 (age 53) 168, Prince of Wales Rd. St. Pancras.

stories my gran told me about my dad leonard, unscrupulous,,would have slit your throat for a penny etc may have run in the family & maybe why they changed from Pescott to Prescott...there again my gran (mums mum) was very bitter at the way he treated my mum so it could have been a bitter old womans rants or the truth?

Wonder why Henry decided to adopt Prescott as his name rather than Pescott?

I take it you have access to records on here SS ?

I could carry on finding more bits and peices for you but dont want to spoil your fun if you want to find them yourself.

Just let us know what you are stuck on and we will try to help

jax Report 26 Feb 2011 18:13

Oh at least I picked the right one. I did doubt it as Barnet is'nt near islington

It seems that only Annie and Henry were given the Martin middle name, so maybe the other two were not fathered by George? or Emily forgot to add it?

I think a few of us breathed a sigh of relief at the results of that birth cert!!!!

If he'd turned up as the son of Harriet and Job Pescott or something, you may have heard a groan around the world.

Hi SS

Good these pills, fall asleep at 10 pm and wide awake now aghhh

On page 2 Dea posted a 1891 census with Emily and the 3 girls so it looks like they are his sisters...dont know where Henry was though??

Did'nt you say to me SS that the birth cert did say Pescott not Prescott?

I dont think that Annie to John cooper is yours that marriage took place much too early

Infact she may not have married this death ties in with her birth

Name: Annie M Pescott
Death Registration Month/Year: 1924
Age at death (estimated): 41
Registration district: Barnet

You are probably tired and need to go to bed. This hobby is so addictive

Im in New Zealand

I noticed those marriages were posted on the thread earlier and Alice Prescotts fathers name was George Prescott occ butcher. So yes these must be siblings of Henry

Possibly when Alice was asked her fathers name she said George and it was assumed his surname was Prescott
