Are you local to Staffordshire Records Office ?

They probably hold the parish records you need to research.

For anyone who wants to find it in future.

But all you need to do, Irene -- and what you do need to do -- is click on "My thread participation" on the left and check all your threads for replies.

(Dandy, AoGG, since you asked! Eye infection clearing up, getting a bit of a breather from work since the House of Commons has gone on a recess this week, which affects my workload, though still up to my nose.)

I hope I've got it right this time I'm using my thread :-)

I have just received Marriage certificate for John Hyde and Sarah Jackson May 1847 and I seem to have a problem
I have Sarah's dad has John Jackson but on Certificate he is named as James Jackson deceased Profession Glazier,

I do not seem able to find him all searches I have done come back has 'John'

Just for the record

Marriages Jun 1847
Hyde John Dudley 18 411
Jackson Sarah Dudley 18 411

1851

Name: John Hyde
Age: 29
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1822
Relation: Head
Spouse's Name: Sarah Hyde
Where born: Deepfields, Staffordshire, England

Name: Sarah Hyde
Age: 29
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1822
Relation: Wife
Spouse's Name: John Hyde
Where born: Dudley, Warwickshire, England

Civil parish: Sedgley
County/Island: Staffordshire

John Hyde 29
Sarah Hyde 29
John Hyde 1

Sarah in 1841?

Name: Sarah Jackson
Age: 19
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1822
Where born: Staffordshire, England
Occupation: Nailor
Civil parish: Sedgley

Ancestry is up to its usual tricks -- it shows her hived off from her actual household -- all of the family members are shown as separate households:

John Jackson abt 1796 - Screw Forger
Sarah Jackson abt 1796
James Jackson abt 1818
Sarah Jackson abt 1822
Elizabeth Jackson abt 1824
Mary Jackson abt 1826
Lucy Jackson abt 1829
Samuel Jackson

Now that doesn't match up with that marriage certificate. John rather than James, screw forger rather than glazier.

There's no other Sarah Jackson of about the right age in Dudley reg dist in 1841.

Any chance it gives an age for Sarah on the marriage certificate?
What are the witnesses' names?
What is the actual location of the marriage?

Another possible.

I looked at the 1861 for her birthplace, which says what the 1851 really says: Dudley, Worcestershire.

Name: Sarah Jackson
Age: 16
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1825
Where born: Worcestershire, England

Civil parish: Dudley
County/Island: Worcestershire

Jas Jackson 54 - miner
Mary Jackson 50
Elizh Jackson 29
Sarah Jackson 16

Just a Q, are you very sure the marriage certificate says "glazier"? Can't think of anything it would be easily mistaken for, but just checking. ;)
