Gillian Report 1 Mar 2011 12:23

ok - thanks

so no daughter - Sarah Ann here......there goes my theory of George / Daniel being the 'uncle' of Ada Lily .....

But - theres too many co-incidences in the locations of this family. They must be related somehow....

I will put the on 'the back burner' for now...........thank you anyway

My priority is to find Sarah Ann Workman & her parents / siblings somewhere Nr Dursley/Wooton Under Edge, Glos as she is the Key.......the Ada Lily workman that I am looking for in 1901 is her daughter..

Thanks again

Thats brillient - thank you so much .......

I now have a definate 'Workman' family connection between Wooton under Edge in Glos and Llanwonno ( Pontypridd) glamorgan.....

Im not 100% sure yet of exactly what it means - but - I am getting nearer.
( see my ' plea for help' - just above your 1881 census reply ).....

Its my belief that Daniel/George is the uncle of the Ada Lily Workman that I am looking for in 1901.

I think therefor that his parents Sebastian & Emma had an elder daughter - Sarah Ann Workman born c1855......she would be Ada Lilys mother - I really need to confirm that this is Sarah Anns family.......

I have been trying for some time to find Ada Lily Workman in the 1901 census -
she was born 1899 in Dursley & her mother, Sarah Ann Workman, had moved in with a William Beckerton shortly after & in 1901 they moved to Alderley, Glos, living in a 'tied' cottage. ....leaving Adas older siblings in the workhouse.........

I havent been able to find where Ada Lily Workman was in 1901 - she wasnt with her mother & wasnt in the workhouse with her siblings -

By 1911 - the family were in Pontypridd, Glamorgan. - all together.

I have tried looking at the 1901 census for Ada / Lily but no luck as yet ......anyone got any ideas?

It did occur to me that if I could find Sarah Ann Workmans siblings ( she came from Charfield, Nr Wooton Under Edge, Glos...) it is possible that one of Sarahs married sisters ( ie different surname) could be housing Ada...........

I know that Sarah Ann Workman was born c1855 and married a Joseph Workman ( surname co-incidence)......they had several children and then Joseph died aged just 38.
A year or two later in 1899 - Ada Lily was born & obviously given the surname Workman as she was illegitamate.....but then in the 1901 census - her mother Sarah Ann is living with William Beckeron & they marry in 1902.......

This is really all the info that I have..........I would love to find Ada Lily Workman in the 1901 census as this is a big gap - She was my grandmother, so any help / advise appreciated

Thank you all so much for your help.

I do not believe that the Lily Workman shown here is actually the one that I was looking for - however - I do believe that the father - (Daniel ) George Workman born c1867 IS probably related - perhaps her uncle(?)
The Llanwonno area certainly 'fits'.

Is it possible please - to take a look for him in earlier census - to find his parents & siblings, so that i can 'follow' thwhere that trail takes me.

Many thanks
