Find Ancestors

Is it possible to find out who was living in a particualr street in the 1911 census? ie I do not have a family name to look up, but I know that the members of the family were in Ludgate Hill, Wooton under Edge, Glos.

I believe that Ludgate Hill is a street with only a few houses - but I dont know if its possible for someone to take a look in 1911 to find the names and occupations of the occupants .
( and street number if pos).

If you don't know the names of the people for whom you are searching.......how will you know if the census records are in any way relevant?

And when were these people 'known' to be in the area?

At this moment in time, unfortunately, none of those names mean anything to me.. I was hoping to find a 'Workman' or possible a 'Beckerton' name - but it is possible that a female from these, married into one of the above families. (?)

Is it possible find a particular household in the electoral roles? ie I know that my nan - Ada Lily Workman - was living in Ludgate Hill athe time of her marriage in 1919., when she was 20 yrs old. ..but I do not know who she was staying with - I assumed that it was family as she also gave her occupation as a 'elastic weaver'.....so I know that she wasnt 'In Service' in Ludgate Hill...

The ' Candy' family...........

One of the witnesses on my nans wedding cert was - Candy -.........thanks to you guys & bit by bit,, the family history is all coming together.......

1919 is the key - Ada Lily Workman gave her address as Ludgate Hill & I know that one of her witnesses was a 'Candy' - I also have photos af someone ( I have no idea who) - who was a gardener or head gardener.it is possible that the Candy's or Grimes were actually related somehow to my nan - I now need to find any other connections.

Do you know if its possible to find who was in the household in 1919??

Just checked - Witnesses were - Elsie May Candy & Florence King

The only record for 1919 would be an ER.......and the franchise was very limited at that time

Ada may have been a lodger or boarder at Ludgate Hill

To find any familial links between Workman and Candy, you'll have to do some research on freebmd, and on earlier census records

mmmm ...interesting - no Elsie May Candy anywhere.....

But I know that Elsie May Candy was a witness to Ada Lily Workmans wedding in 1919 and also that Ada was staying in the 'Candy' household at that time.......so - who is Elsie May Candy ( in relation to the Candy family shown....is she a daughter who wasnt in the household in both 1901 & 1911 census?

I perhaps need to also find Janet Candys 1st marriage - it may be that Elsie Candy is the neice of her husband?

I particularly wanted the info on the Grimes /Candy family in Ludgate Hill in 1901 & 1911 & the marriage of Glen ( the son) to Elsie May etc.........
